Carlos Fleites’ attention to detail and extraordinary ability to communicate well with the Prosecution are key attributes towards achieving his client’s goals in their criminal cases.  Carlos Fleites has successfully defended clients in a variety of complex cases ranging from Murder and Attempted Murder to International Drug Trafficking.

Carlos Fleites represents clients at all stages of Criminal Prosecution in both State and Federal Court, from first appearance to trial.  Mr. Fleites is aggresive in his approach to defending his clients and is very trial active, having tried cases that include Murder, Armed Robbery, Burglary, Battery and many more. He has defended the rights of the accused for over ten years.  His practice is strictly Criminal Defense.

Attorney Fleites graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University and with a Juris Doctor Cum Laude from the University of Florida.
During Law School, he worked extensively with the student legal services program providing legal aid to the indigent and oppressed.
 
Carlos Fleites was inspired to become a criminal defense attorney by the struggles of his father, Dr. Armando Fleites, who first fought in the Cuban Revolution in the hopes of establishing democracy on the island and later fought to come to the United States to live in freedom. 

Carlos Fleites grew up with a deep appreciation for democracy and was taught by his father to never take freedom for granted.  This is the reason as your criminal defense attorney, your freedom is of utmost importance to him.

Matthew E. Ladd is experienced representing those charged with all criminal offenses from simple misdemeanors to complex felony prosecutions

He is a former prosecutor with the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. There, he prosecuted thousands of cases ranging from misdemeanors to felonies including violent crimes, child abuse, theft, and murder.

After fulfilling his commitment to State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle he served House Speaker Marco Rubio in the Florida House of Representatives. In the Legislature.

Mr. Ladd assisted in the creation of legislation related to criminal justice, residential foreclosures, public safety, auto insurance, immigration reform, property taxes, homeowner and condominium association reform, and compensation for the wrongfully incarcerated. He also served as a Special Master presiding over Claim Bill hearings.

Mr. Ladd is affiliated with the Kiwanis of Little Havana and contributes to the Police Benevolent Association. He is recognized in the community as an aggressive advocate who maintains a strict focus on his client’s satisfaction.  He is a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law and The Marshall University Lewis College of Business. 






Melisa

MELISA COYLE

Melisa Coyle graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and with a juris doctor cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law. 

During law school, Melisa Coyle served as the President of the Honorary Moot Court Board, as a member of the national trial advocacy team, won numerous trial advocacy awards and was awarded the prestigious Kurt Marmar Professionalism Award by the University. She also served as a law clerk for the Honorable U.S. District Judge William M. Hoeveler.

After graduating from law school, Melisa Coyle served as a criminal prosecutor for the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office where she handled a great variety of criminal cases and gained experience in all areas of criminal law and practice.  During her time as a prosecutor, she was awarded the Mother’s Against Drunk Driving Prosecution Award of Honor.

Her experience as a former criminal prosecutor and judicial law clerk allows Melisa Coyle to see her client’s criminal case from all angles: the state, the court, and the defense.  Melisa Coyle’s strong research and writing skills combined with her ability to successfully argue motions and win trials are an integral part of her approach to achieving successful results for her clients.  Melisa Coyle represents her clients in State and Federal court from first appearance to trial

AREAS OF PRACTICE: Criminal Law, Immigration and Naturalization.

Mr. De Sautu holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the St. Thomas University School of Law, a Masters in Health Services Administration from Florida International University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Miami.  His practice focuses on immigration law and rights of non-citizens. 

As such, Mr. De Sautu provides invaluable advice and insight when dealing with criminal charges filed against those who are not United States citizens. His knowledge allows us to effectively minimize immigration consequences for our clients. Mr. De Sautu is experienced in deportation matters and their interaction with criminal defense.

Mr. De Sautu has litigated several federal cases concerning rights of aliens, which include; Ruth Sanchez Jimenez vs. U.S. Attorney General, and Chacon Botero v.s. U.S. Attorney General, which he argued before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

In 2004, Cecilia Veloz joined the Law Office of Carlos M. Fleites, P.A. as the firm’s Office Manager. 

Her work in the legal field began in 1992 at a large and prestigious South Florida firm. Today, she provides the firm’s clients with an unparalleled level of experience, professionalism and support. Cecilia, a native of South Florida, is fluent in both English and Spanish, allowing her to serve as a liason between the attorneys and the firm's multinational clients.

The Law Office of Carlos M. Fleites is a thriving criminal defense practice and Cecilia keeps the office moving smoothly and efficiently at all times.

Cecilia is responsible for supervising the firm's staff, the initial screening of potential clients, managing the firm’s database, file management and invoicing and records, as well as maintaining the attorneys' daily and weekly schedules.
